During the handover ceremony of the cabinet on Thursday former minister of culture Marian Bachev stated that he is turning over his post "after 400 days in office, with head held high and a feeling of completed duty".
"I might have offended some people voluntarily or involuntarily, but institutional authority was maintained thoroughly. Everything I have done or attempted to do was consistent with the law and the rules. I would like to thank everyone who has assisted me in this initiative," added Bachev.
He continued, saying that his successor Nayden Todorov has traditions in this ministry, and that he was awaited in many different situations – economically and politically. "He once told me that he is handing me the 'hot potato' that is the Ministry of Culture. Now I am handing it back after some thermal processing. This is a metaphor, of course, but I do wish him luck, considering the lack of an approved budget. However, I do believe that his experience will help him overcome the difficulties."
