Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov, quoted by his party's press service on Monday, said that Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev should resign, after the latter commented on the suspected triple murder case announced on February 2. Two days later, Terziev said in a Facebook post that he knew personally the three men found dead near the Petrohan Lodge, that they were "good men" who "had chosen to fight a brutal enemy in an unequal battle" for nature protection, and that a filthy smear campaign is now on against them.
Kostadinov stated: "I am appalled by the new murders in the Petrohan case. I am also appalled by the brazen defence that the probable paedophile sect gravitating around CC-DB [Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, the coalition that supported Terziev during the mayoral elections] is receiving in the media. At this point, we should witness the resignation of Sofia Mayor Terziev at least (one of the sect's sponsors), followed by further resignations of activists (and perhaps MPs) from CC-DB who are linked to the criminals. I hope there is no cover-up of the organized criminal group CC-DB, so that we can learn all the details about this sinister network of cultists, paedophiles, Satanists, and who knows what else."
After three men were found gunned down near the Petrohan Pass in the Western Balkan Mountains on February 2, three more bodies, also with gunshot wounds, were found near Mount Okolchitsa, Northwestern Bulgaria, as reported by Chief Commissioner and National Police head Zahari Vaskov on February 8. Vaskov reported that the individuals found near Mount Okolchitsa are connected to the Petrohan case.
