Twenty-six MPs from the 51st National Assembly, or around 11% of the total 240, have been reprimanded in 2025. Three of those 26 have also received censure, according to data from the National Assembly website.

According to article 154 of the Rules of Organization and Procedure of the National Assembly, the following disciplinary measures may be imposed on an MP: reminder, reprimand, censure, taking away the word, removal from a sitting, and removal from up to three sittings.

The three MPs that got reprimanded are Vazrazhdane MP Tsoncho Ganev, who was reprimanded on two occasions; Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov; and Vazrazhdane MP Iskra Mihaylova, who was penalized with removal from a sitting, which was later diminished to reprimand.

Kostadinov and MECh Chair Radostin Vasilev got the most reprimands with nine each. They are followed by Vazrazhdane MP Daniel Petrov with four, and Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) MP Manol Peykov, Vazrazhdane MPs Kosta Stoyanov and Yordan Todorov, each of them with three.

Kostadinov was first reprimanded on February 5, 2025. On that day, the parliamentary session was suspended twice due to disturbances in the chamber. At one point, Kostadinov and CC-DB MP Ivaylo Mirchev got into an argument during the first reading of the bill on the registration of foreign agents that had been tabled by Vazrazhdane.

Vasilev was first reprimanded on February 27. He was sanctioned during the discussion of the draft declaration condemning the systematic aggressive actions of Vazrazhdane for insulting GERB-UDF MP Manoil Manev. The reason for the declaration was the protest organized by Vazrazhdane on February 22, when the door of the European Commission's representative office in Sofia was set on fire, and red paint and firecrackers were hurled at the building. Vazrazhdane MPs Iskra Mihaylova and Viktor Papazov were also reprimanded that day.

Sanctions accompanied the most heated political clashes in parliament. An example of this is the censure imposed on Kostadinov and Ganev on June 4, the date on which the European Commission and the European Central Bank announced their convergence reports on Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone on January 1, 2026. At that time, MPs from the Vazrazhdane party blocked access to the podium of the National Assembly to show that parliament would no longer be working on that day. From the morning, supporters of the Bulgarian lev protested in front of the National Assembly building.

From December 22, 2025, to January 10, 2026, members of parliament will be on vacation for the winter holidays. The next regular plenary session is scheduled for January 14.
