site.btaUPDATED ARF Floor Leader Describes Forming Cabinet within 51st National Assembly as "Practically Impossible"
Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (ARF) Floor Leader Hayri Sadakov attended a government-forming consultation with President Rumen Radev on Thursday. The head of State is holding such consultations with all political forces prior to handing the cabinet-forming mandates.
"It is practically impossible to form a cabinet within the 51st Parliament," Sadakov said.
"An important issue is whether there is consensus in parliament to guarantee the fairness of this vote; all institutions must take responsibility. We call on you, as the presidential institution, to guarantee this," he added.
"We were the first to clearly state, more than a year and a half ago, the imposition of the "Peevski" model [named after MRF - New Beginning Floor Leader Delyan Peevski] and the need to respond to it. We did not support the first proposed Zhelyazkov cabinet, we went through elections that gave many answers to the public, we tried with clear responsibility to support a cabinet with the idea that the important priorities for the country would be implemented – these are the eurozone and Schengen," Sadakov noted. "It was not an easy decision to leave this cabinet after we had supported it," he said.
Sadakov stressed that machine voting and transparent reporting of results is extremely important for ARF.
