People no longer want things to continue this way, Velichie Floor Leader Ivelin Mihaylov told journalists as he entered Parliament on Thursday.
He said that after Wednesday’s protest, political parties should rethink their positions. The demonstration was not only in Sofia but nationwide, which shows what people want, Mihaylov added.
If the Cabinet does not resign, tensions will escalate, he said. Mihaylov also expects the creation of a new political party if snap elections are held, which could reshape the composition of the National Assembly.
On Wednesday, large crowds protested in Sofia and other cities demanding the government's resignation.
At 1.30 p.m. on Thursday, Parliament will vote on the motion of no confidence against the government of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov. The motion was submitted on Friday, December 7, by Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria and backed by the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms and the Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) party.
