There were no seriously injured people or individuals in life-threatening condition following Monday’s protest in Sofia against the adoption of the 2026 State Budget Bill, the spokesperson of the Emergency Medical Service in the capital, Katya Sungarska, told BTA.

During the protest, ambulances made 22 runs. Eleven ambulances were stationed on site, and three were on standby, later joining the operation when needed.

Ten people were transported to hospitals for consultations, Sungarska added. Nine others were examined and treated on the spot, receiving medical assistance as required.

Emergency responders were unable to locate six individuals at the addresses from which signals were received, the spokesperson further explained.

The protest in Sofia flooded the square in front of the Presidency, the National Assembly, and the Council of Ministers on Monday. Thousands of citizens rallied against the draft 2026 State Budget Bill in the capital and in other major cities across the country. The protest was organized by Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB), after GERB-UDF Floor Leader and GERB Chair Boyko Borissov refused to withdraw the submitted 2026 State Budget Bill. Late on Monday night, disturbances broke out in Sofia centre.
