site.bta3rd Plovdiv Science Festival to Take Place from November 27 to 30
Visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to enjoy a four-day programme that includes over 40 scientists in 70 events during the 3rd Plovdiv Science Festival, which will take place from November 27 to 30 at the Plant and Systems Biology and Biotechnology Centre, the organizers said on Thursday.
The main programme of the festival will include meetings with prominent Bulgarian scientists of world recognition, as well as with their younger and foreign colleagues working in Bulgaria. A special guest of the festival will be the French anthropologist Dr. Olivier Gibert, who will meet with Plovdiv-based British paleontologist Dr. Michael Sandy. The stand of the Institute of Organic Chemistry at the Centre for Phytochemistry at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will feature Spanish scientists working together with their Bulgarian colleagues.
In addition to the scientists, the programme also includes journalists Zhivko Konstantinov and Maria Cherneva, who will share their experience as authors of scientific publications. Information impact researcher Andy Stoychev will show how disinformation affects the brain and body, while cybersecurity expert and blogger Angel Sirakov will speak to parents and children about ways to protect themselves from online predators.
The lobby of the Plant and Systems Biology and Biotechnology Centre will be transformed into the Discoverer hall, where the stands of scientific and academic institutions will be located, while visitors will have the opportunity to also visit the Cosmos and Laboratory halls for talks and scientific presentations, as the as the Energy and DNA halls for practical workshops. Among the main topics are space exploration, health and technology. The festival will also feature an exhibition on dinosaurs by paleontologist Vladimir Nikolov from the National Museum of Natural History at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and a cartographic exhibition by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Evgeniya Sarafova from the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia.
The 3rd Plovdiv Science Festival is organized by the Beautiful Science Foundation under the patronage and partnership of the Education and Science Ministry and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, with the assistance of the Centre for Scientific Research and Development of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Plovdiv Municipality and a number of academic, research, corporate and media partners.
