The mayor of Istanbul’s Bayrampasa district, Hasan Mutlu, has been temporarily suspended while an investigation is ongoing against him for bribery and abuse of official position, the Ministry of Interior announced. The decision was made by the Istanbul Court as a temporary measure.

Hasan Mutlu was elected mayor after Turkiye's largest opposition party, the Republican People's Party (CHP), nominated him as their candidate.

The mayor of Bayrampasa and 47 other suspects were detained on September 13, 2025, in connection with a corruption investigation. Like other opposition mayors, he described his detention as politically motivated.
