An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 was recorded in the Balikesir Province in northwestern Turkiye on Sunday, according to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), quoted by the Anadolu Agency.
There is no information on damage or casualties at this time.
The quake was registered at 12:35 pm in the area of the town of Sindirgi, Balikesir Province, was at a depth of 7.72 km, AFAD said.
Last month, a 6.1-magnitude earthquake in Sindirgi led to the collapse of buildings and caused the death of one person who was buried under the rubble, while another died after part of a damaged mosque collapsed on them.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on social media that AFAD and other emergency teams were conducting on-site inspections after the earthquake.
