The ban on movement in the forests of the Republic of North Macedonia has been extended until September 30, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy in Skopje said here on Tuesday. The institution is urging citizens to exercise particular caution to prevent wildfires, as the risk remains high due to continued high temperatures across the country.

“It is essential for the public to understand the dangers and consequences of open-area fires and, through their behavior, to contribute to the protection and preservation of forests...,” the Ministry appealed.

According to information from the Crisis Management Center, a total of 18 fires were registered on Tuesday across North Macedonia, two of which remain active.

A full ban on movement in forests has been in force in North Macedonia since July 1 due to the risk of wildfires.
