Romania has sent a Black Hawk helicopter to Bulgaria to help extinguish the wildfires, Romania's Department for Emergency Situations (DSU) told BTA on Monday.
The helicopter took off earlier in the morning from an airbase in Bucharest. This is its first mission outside the country.
"It is not yet clear how long the mission will last, but Romania has responded to the appeal of the Bulgarian authorities through the European Civil Protection Mechanism," DSU spokesman Bogdan Toma said in response to a question from BTA.
According to Digi24, the mission will last at least two days.
