Voter turnout in Sunday's first round of the presidential elections in Romania as at 11:00 am local time was 14.58%, which is three percentage points higher than the turnout in the first round in 2024, according to the Permanent Electoral Authority. This figure includes some 450,000 Romanians who cast their votes abroad.
The highest turnout abroad is in Italy (81,179), Germany (69,884) and the UK (68,996). In Romania, 2,166,388 people have voted, the turnout being higher in rural polling stations (1,215,032) compared to urban areas.
