A planetarium in Ankara Kizilay district, put up on the occasion of the flight of the first Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravci, will remain open for free admissions until February 2.

On February 2 Gezeravci is expected to complete his mission on the International Space Station and return to Earth Gezeravci launched into space ten days ago with the crew of Axion Mission 3 to the International Space Station from the Kennedy base in Florida US. During his two-week mission he will carry out 13 scientific experiments.

Until Gezeravci’s return the planetariums in Ankara and Istanbul will remain open. They screen films about Turkiye’s space programme and the mission of the first Turkish astronaut. In addition to the screenings, the planetarium in Kizilay holds quizzes for visitors.

Despite the recent cold weather and snow in Ankara there are many people who want to visit the planetarium, and there are long queues. Research centres across Turkiye are also open for visits by pupils during the midterm holiday.
