Trade between Bulgaria and Turkiye reached the record-setting EUR 9 billion in 2025, which is a growth of 18% from a year earlier, Deputy Economy and Industry Minister Anton Kostadinov said here Tuesday, as quoted by his Ministry. He was speaking at a forum on the prospects and opportunities in bilateral business cooperation, held with participants from 70 Bulgarian and Turkish companies.

The Minister also said that Turkiye is among the leading markets for Bulgarian exports.

During the forum, Kostadinov emphasized that Turkey is a long-standing and strategic partner of Bulgaria, with relations based on mutual trust, active economic exchange, and a shared ambition for development. He cited central bank data showing that Turkish foreign direct investment in Bulgaria amounted to over EUR 1.5 billion by the end of 2025.

Turkish companies operate in sectors such as industry, infrastructure, construction, automotive manufacturing, textiles, and the food and beverage industry.

The Deputy Minister highlighted promising areas for cooperation, including information and communication technologies, trade digitalization, mechanical engineering, electronics, and electrical engineering.

The forum also outlined opportunities for joint projects in high value-added industries, including transport and logistics, energy, and innovation. In addition, participants discussed the development of logistics centers and industrial zones in border regions, aiming to boost trade and turn the area into a strategic corridor between Europe and Asia.

The event was organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with Eurochambres as part of the EU–Turkey Business Dialogue initiative. The format aims to create real partnership opportunities, facilitate business contacts, and deepen economic ties between the EU and Turkey.

The Turkish Ambassador to Bulgaria, Mehmet Uyanık, addressed to the participants, and Tsvetan Simeonov, President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, took part in opening session.
