From January to September 2025, there were nearly 5% fewer registered thefts from shops than in the same period of 2024, the Interior Ministry said Thursday. In the first nine months of 2025, there were 4,942 shop thefts, compared to 5,173 in January-September 2024.
The detection rate for this type of crime is quite high, according to the Ministry of Interior. It was just over 74% in January-September 2025, with many cases still under investigation. For the same period last year, the detection rate for shoplifting was close to 72%.
The Interior Ministry's data for burglary and theft also show a decline of about 13%.
