site.btaBulgarian Embassy in Rome Hosts 10th Artemidia Biennale Dedicated to Sts Cyril and Methodius
The Bulgarian Embassy in Rome hosted the opening of the 10th edition of the Biennale Artemidia: Art and Friendship (Biennale Artemidia: Arte e Amicizia) on October 22, the diplomatic mission announced on its Facebook page. Over the years, the event has become a major platform for international artistic exchange.
This year’s edition is dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius, patrons of Europe and of Bulgarian culture, marking 1,170 years since the creation of the Glagolitic script and the Bulgarian alphabet. It also commemorates the 140th anniversary of the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia and celebrates cultural dialogue and cooperation among nations.
The opening featured performances and appearances by several nominees for the International Nikola Gyuzelev Award for Opera and Fine Arts, including Italian soprano Francesca Patane, Bulgarian singer Orlin Goranov, Bulgarian-Italian performer Maria Elena Infantino, actress and producer Anna Maria Petrova Gyuzeleva, and artists Elisabetta Bogdanova Ferrara, Fabiola Mengoni, Mariana Stoeva, and Alessandro Gabrieli.
The event was opened by Ermelina Peycheva, Bulgaria’s Chargé d’affaires in Italy, together with Anna Maria Gyuzeleva, chair of the Artemidia Biennale and the Nikola Gyuzelev Foundation, and other cultural partners.
The Biennale is organized with the support of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Rome, the Nikola Gyuzelev Foundation, and Bulgaria’s Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Menotti Art Festival Spoleto, the Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA), and several Italian and Bulgarian cultural organizations.
