Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Rosen Zhelyazkov, will participate in a European Council meeting in Brussels on October 23, the Government Information Service said Wednesday. EU leaders will discuss Ukraine, European defence, and recent developments in the Middle East, among others.

In pursuit of peace, the leaders will discuss concrete steps on how to step up support for Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia. The Council will consider how the EU can support ongoing efforts toward a just and lasting peace and the reconstruction of Gaza. Discussions will explore the EU’s defence readiness and concrete decisions on capability projects and governance. Other major topics on the agenda include migration, competitiveness, and housing.
