Uzbekistan has made tremendous progress across all sectors, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev said here on Wednesday. “This is very promising. I am absolutely confident that we will continue to work together,” Radev added. He was speaking at a Bulgarian-Uzbek business forum in Tashkent on the last day of his official visit to the country.

On Tuesday, Radev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a joint statement on strengthening cooperation between Bulgaria and Uzbekistan.

At the business forum, Radev highlighted his discussions with President Mirziyoyev, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and cabinet ministers on Tuesday, during which they had spoken of developing a roadmap for “cooperation in specific areas,” with clear deadlines and responsibilities.” “Bulgaria can serve as a gateway for your products to reach Europe, Africa and other regions of the world. You can be the gateway for our products to reach the Central Asia region,” the President added.

“The world is becoming increasingly unpredictable and uncertain. That is why we must consider our security,” the head of State said. He noted Bulgaria’s long-standing experience and position in the European Union as an ammunition producer. Recently, Bulgarian companies have been successfully developing all kinds of high-tech products, such as unmanned aerial vehicles and anti-drone systems, Radev added.

The President said that Bulgaria and Uzbekistan could join forces in “this vital area to enhance security for our countries and our region."
