site.btaPM Radev Calls on Regional Governors to Ensure Swift Disaster Response, Develop Local Investment Strategies
Prime Minister Rumen Radev held a working meeting with regional governors here on Monday aimed at achieving optimal coordination between them and the Cabinet, the Government Information Service reported. The main tasks and goals he outlined were a swift and adequate response to disasters, lawful conduct, and strategies to attract local investment.
Radev instructed the governors to review and update local disaster and crisis response plans as soon as possible. The goal is for local organizations to ensure an immediate response to assist people and to resolve situations as quickly as possible. Emphasis was placed on the danger of fires and droughts in the upcoming summer months.
Radev highlighted the importance of coordination with mayors and the territorial structures of the government. He noted the government's commitment to maximum transparency regarding the budget and the spending of public funds.
The Prime Minister added that regional governors should have a strategic view of the development of the regions and make targeted efforts to attract investments locally, highlighting the importance of reducing the administrative burden and accelerating digitalization.
Cleaning riverbeds, management of state assets and current procedures under EU programmes were also among the topics discussed at the meeting.
Also attending the meeting were Environment and Water Minister Rositsa Karamfilova, as well as deputy ministers from the Ministries of Agriculture and Food, Regional Development and Public works, Labour and Social Policy, Tourism, and Culture.
On May 13, the Council of Ministers adopted a decision appointing 28 new regional governors and dismissing those who previously held these positions.
