site.btaInformation Service: Flu, Tetanus and Diphtheria Jabs Lead as National Health Insurance System Adds Pre-2022 Records by July

Information Service said on Wednesday that nearly 8.5 million vaccination records have been registered in the National Health Information System (NHIS) over the past four years, with the highest numbers relating to immunizations against seasonal flu, tetanus and diphtheria.
The NHIS will integrate pre-2022 vaccination data from the National Health Insurance Fund by the end of July, Information Services’ Director of Software Integration Kostadinov said, adding, “Recording immunization data in electronic health records gives users a complete view of the vaccines they have received and enables health authorities to make more accurate forecasts and shape relevant policies.”
Users can already review their own and their children’s vaccinations through the eHealth portal and mobile app, where each entry lists the target disease, batch number, dose and, when relevant, the date of the next dose; a personalised immunization calendar in the Long-Term Care section is updated every January.
BTA notes that earlier this month Health Minister Silvi Kirilov proposed that all mandatory, recommended and targeted vaccinations be entered in electronic health records to improve access to immunization information.
