site.bta23rd International Beekeeping Exhibition Opens in Pleven

The 23rd International Beekeeping Exhibition was opened in Pleven on Friday. The event brings together over 120 beekeepers and companies from 20 countries, including Austria, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Finland, Hungary, who will have the opportunity to negotiate partnerships.

Pleven traditionally becomes the capital of beekeeping in February, Regional Beekeepers' Union Chair Associate Professor Yulian Stanchev, said at the opening of the forum. "The aim of the exhibition is, in addition to presenting the problems, to create interest among citizens in bee products," he added.

"For another year, our city is becoming a kind of centre of beekeeping, gathering prominent representatives of the industry in the country, foreign lecturers and guests during the largest forum of its kind in Eastern Europe," Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Stefan Burdzhev said in his greeting. He noted that annually, Bulgaria produces between 9,000 and 12,000 tonnes of high-quality honey, with over 80% being exported to European partners.

Pleven Regional Governor Martin Machev also said that he is glad that for another year Pleven is proving itself as the capital of beekeeping not only on a regional and national scale, but also internationally.

The exhibition will continue until February 15, when awards will be presented in various categories, along with the grand prize for innovation in beekeeping, the Wing of Success, which is provided by the Pleven Regional Administration.

The organizers of the exhibition are Partners Expo Ltd. in partnership with the Pleven Regional Beekeeping Union, under the patronage of the Agriculture and Food Ministry and the Pleven Regional Administration.
