The documentary “Trigger of Hate” will premiere on February 16 at Odeon Cinema in Sofia, the producers from GLAS Foundation told BTA.

The 40-minute documentary explores how hate becomes normalized, how fear is turned into politics, and how difference becomes a justification for violence, the producers said.

A discussion with the film’s team will follow the premiere screening, featuring journalists Lora Krumova and Maria Yotova, and cinematographer Dobromir Ivanov. They trace real-life stories of people who have been turned into targets because of who they are.

“With this film, we want to show that hate crimes are not isolated incidents, but the result of an environment in which hate speech is tolerated and even encouraged. ‘Trigger of Hate’ is an invitation to society to take responsibility - not to remain silent and not to accept violence as something normal,” said Simeon Vassilev, Chair of GLAS.

The foundation added that the film is part of its long-term work to document hate crimes, counter hate speech, and advocate for more effective institutional protection of vulnerable communities in Bulgaria. After its premiere, “Trigger of Hate” will be available for free viewing on YouTube.
