The Osaka Expo 2025 in Japan is enjoying strong interest, with thousands of Japanese and foreign guests visiting the international exhibition after its official opening for the second day already.

More than 9 million tickets sold

Organisers report that more than 9 million tickets (9,065,655) have been sold as of April 9, including daily, season or special tickets. A total of 28 million visitors are expected for the entire six-month expo period. Of these, 90% are projected to be Japanese nationals, including 1.5 million students, and the remaining 10% visitors from other countries.

More than 160 exhibitors

More than 160 countries, regions and organizations are presenting their concepts at the expo, under the theme "Designing Future Society for Our Lives".

The Bulgarian pavilion

Bulgaria’s national pavilion has an area of 376 square meters and is located on a plot of 900 square meters. It is located in the prestigious Zone A, between the pavilions of Singapore and the Netherlands. Eco-friendly materials such as wood and textiles were used for its construction. After the exhibition, every part of the pavilion will be recycled or reused.

The Grand Ring

The event takes place on an artificial island called Yumeshima (Dream Island), located in Osaka Bay.

The exhibition is surrounded by a large-scale wooden structure called the “Grand Ring”. The structure is about three kilometres long, 12 metres wide and up to 20 metres high, which is why it has been recognized by Guinness as “the largest wooden architectural structure”. Organizers said 70% wood from Japan and 30% imported wood was used to make the structure. The imposing structure is meant to symbolize the overall concept of the exhibition - diversity and unity.

Boosting the economy

The Japanese government expects the long-term economic impact of Expo 2025 in Osaka to be nearly JPY 3 trillion (USD 20 billion).
