Unanimously, by 208 votes in favour, Parliament extended by three months the term of the ad-hoc committee tasked with establishing all the facts and circumstances of the problems of waterlessness in Bulgaria. This will give the committee additional time to obtain more information from the relevant institutions, analyze the data, and draw up the conclusions of the report.
The decision to set up the ad-hoc committee was taken on December 11 at the suggestion of MPs from Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria. Manol Genov, the current Minister of Environment and Water, was elected chairman of the committee.
In the course of the discussion, which lasted nearly two hours, the MPs debated issues ranging from the chemical composition of water, its treatment as a natural resource and wealth, to the need for specific design solutions to solve the problems of waterlessness in individual regions.
