Romanian citizen Tal Haimi, held hostage by Hamas, who also had Israeli citizenship, was killed in the Gaza Strip, the Romanian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday, citing information from Israeli authorities. The Ministry sent condolences to the bereaved family.

The man was kidnapped on October 7. Just days after, Haimi's wife arrived in Romania to ask the government in Bucharest to get involved in her husband's release, Digi24 recalled.

Currently, two people with dual Israeli-Romanian citizenship are still hostages in the Gaza Strip, the Romanian Foreign Ministry said. In this context, the institution reiterates the need to release all Hamas hostages.
