Speaking to AGERPRES, Bulgarian Ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaykov said that security in the Black Sea region is a key concept within NATO and is the responsibility of the countries in that region. Security in the Black Sea Region should also be seen as NATO responsibility and the topic should also be discussed at NATO-EU level, he added. Vlaykov attended a conference on Sustainability, Military Capability Development and NATO-EU Cooperation for the Implementation of a Security Strategy in the Black Sea Region held at the National Military Circle in Bucharest.

"We need to promote unity and security in the region," Vlaykov urged.

Attending the conference, US Ambassador to Romania Kathleen Kavalec called for a strategy to be developed regarding the Black Sea countries. She described the current period as a turning point in international history and stressed that cooperation is crucial not only for Romania but for international security, as well.

The invasion of Ukraine is an attack on international security, so the situation in the Black Sea region should be monitored, Kavalec said, adding that the US interest is to work with global partners.
