The films After the End of the World and Journey to Jerusalem will be screened in Berlin on November 17 and November 18. After each screening the viewers will have the opportunity to talk with the director of the movies Ivan Nichev, said the director of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin, Borislav Petranov, on Wednesday.

"The screening of the two films is part of the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the rescue of the Bulgarian Jews. They will be screened in Brotfabrik Berlin,” he added. Both films will be dubbed in German.

After the End of the World is based on a screenplay by Angel Wagenstein and the cinema has decided to present in the same week, in the screenwriter’s memory, a re-shot copy of the German film Stars directed by Konrad Wolf and written by Wagenstein, Petranov noted.

The plot of After the End of the World tells the story of an Israeli professor who, during a lecture tour in Bulgaria, meets his childhood sweetheart in his hometown.

Journey to Jerusalem shows the railway station in Sofia in 1940 and two German children of Jewish descent who are on their way to Palestine after their uncle has a heart attack. They remain stranded in the Bulgarian capital.
