Bulgarian companies took part in FoodService & Hospitality Expo, the biggest hotel and restaurant exhibition in Romania. The event was held in Bucharest with the support of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Participating on an area of 15,000 sq m were the biggest suppliers and traders from Romania and Southeast Europe, professionals in the sector, and thousands of interested firms seeking partners.

Viktoriya Nikiforova, representative of a company offering confectionery, told BTA that this is their first participation in an exhibition in Romania, where the interest in confectionery is strong. The company's goal is to work with hotels in Romania.

According to Marina Angelova, representative of a company offering professional equipment and dinnerware for restaurants, bars, hotels, and homes, Bulgaria and Romania can be partners. "The fact that we are neighbours is met very warmly by all our clients," she told BTA. She explained that the company is participating in the expo to declare they already have a showroom in the Bucharest area and to show what they can offer the Romanian market.

Gergana Ilieva, PR Manager of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, commented for BTA that Bulgarian companies have been on the Romanian hospitality market for a long time. For years, they have been successfully selling furniture, mattresses, bathrobes, confectionery, spices, packaged sugar, professional kitchen equipment, and a lot more.

Bulgaria has proven itself as a tourist destination on the Romanian market. According to Adrian Dumitriu, representative of an academy for professional education in hospitality, Bulgaria has gotten ahead of Romania. "In the last five years, I have spent my paid leave on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. I have been everywhere - Varna, Albena, Golden Sands, Sunny Beach - and I can sincerely say that if I compare the offered services and accommodation conditions on your coast and ours, Bulgaria wins. It is no coincidence that Romanians prefer to go to the seaside in Bulgaria or in other countries, and not in their fatherland," he commented.
