site.btaConcert Marks 120 Years of Bulgaria-US Diplomacy
A musical performance dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the United States of America took place under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel. The United States was represented by Ambassador Kenneth Merten. The event was attended by Vice President Iliana Iotova, ministers, MEPs, representatives of the diplomatic corps.
The concert featured a selection of inspiring works by some of the greatest Bulgarian and American composers - Pancho Vladigerov, George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, Rumen Boyadzhiev. The guests enjoyed the virtuoso performances of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, with the special participation of conductor Grigor Palikarov.
"We chose this concert to celebrate the anniversary because of the impact of music, with its rhythms and positive energy and the power to inspire and unite people. As a universal language, it has the ability to open our hearts and minds to beauty and perfection," Mariya Gabriel said in her address to the participants.
