A wildfire raged in a forest areaa of more than 500 ha near the town of Sredets in Burgas Region on Saturday and Sunday, resulting in a partial state of emergency for the villages of Kubadin and Draka, BTA learned. The fire was localized in Sunday evening, but the Burgas Regional Administration told BTA the situation remains complicated.
Five firefighting teams, over 80 forestry officials, and two Bulgarian Air Force helicopters, an AS 532 AL Cougar and a Mi-17, helped extinguish the flames.
Burgas Regional Governor Plamen Yanev and Nikolay Nikolaev, Director of the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Civil Protection, personally inspected the fire.
