There is no evidence of pollution from Ukraine in the Bulgarian Black Sea area, the Ministry of Environment and Waters (MEW) said Friday. The ministry provides regular monitoring of the sea water situation following the destruction of the wall of the Nova Kakhovka dam, located on the Dnieper River in Ukraine.

The outlook for the northwestern Black Sea through July 19 remains favorable, with potential contaminants circulating in Ukraine's exclusive economic zone. No pollution is observed in Bulgaria's EEZ on satellite imagery. According to the data, there are no concerns related to the bathing areas along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, the Ministry further reported.

Also on Friday, Environment and Water Minister Julian Popov said on Bulgarian National Television's morning show that in terms of what happened in Nova Kakhovka there is no reason to raise the issue of the cleanliness of the sea water again. The case of Nova Kakhovka and the environmental destruction of Ukraine is a very serious problem, but it is on the territory of Ukraine, the Minister said, adding that the institutions are working hard to give information continuously.
