A draft decision on the provision to Ukraine of armoured transport equipment with the armament available to it, as well as spare parts, no longer needed from the warehouses of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has been submitted to the National Assembly. This was announced on Thursday before journalists by MP from Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) Ivaylo Mirchev. The proposal was signed by MPs from GERB-UDF, CC-DB and the MRF.

Mirchev said that it is mainly about armoured personnel carriers and other armoured equipment, together with equipment, not used by the Gendarmerie or no longer needed.

Mirchev pointed out that this equipment was purchased during the so-called "Revival process" and money was given for it for storage and maintenance, it was never used by the former internal troops and currently by the Gendarmerie. "It was manufactured in the 1960s, some of it works in some form, some of it does not, it is about equipment, armament and spare parts", the MP explained. According to him, there is obviously interest in it from Ukraine.

"In no way will we disrupt the combat capability of the Bulgarian army", Mirchev said. He also commented that the amount is classified information and the Interior Ministry will decide, and added that it would probably be around a hundred pieces of equipment. The draft decision instructs the Council of Ministers to take the necessary actions to provide this assistance to Ukraine. According to Mirchev, this draft decision was the number one task for the Prime Minister, the Interior and Defence ministers.
