A wildfire that broke out Saturday afternoon in the St. George area near Sliven has been contained, the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry announced.

Fire crews remain on site to monitor the area and prevent any re-ignition. The blaze spread across a large area of pine forest but did not damage residential buildings, and there is no danger to people in the nearby neighborhood.

The firefighting effort involved five fire engines, volunteers, and forestry workers, while police units from Sliven maintained safety and secured the perimeter.
