Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov Tuesday held a news briefing to warn of "the constant activation of aggression" by the nationalist Vazrazhdane party, including public posts in the social media of its leader and calls to use of violence in the streets. That kind of behaviour is inadmissible, the government leader said.

He was speaking to the press together with Justice Minister Atanas Slavov and Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov.

"In the recent months, they have been calling to use of violence with increasing frequency, including violence against political figures and people in Parliament," said Denkov. He recalled that the Vazrazhdane MPs unlawfully prevented MPs of other parties from speaking in Parliament.

"The big problems start with small actions like this one," Denkov said. "Today, we decided to say, on behalf of the government, that this kind of behaviour is absolutely unacceptable," he added.

He urged the other state institutions, including the President, as well as the other political parties, to take a stance on the matter.

"We also call on Vazrazhdane to return to a behavior that comply with the laws of this country," he added saying also that some of Vazrazhdane's actions call for an investigation by the authorities into possible offences.

Denkov quoted phylosophy professor Georgi Fotev as saying: "A neo-Fascist party is raging in the Bulgarian Parliament. It is also marching in the national media. It has declared a war on the European values, which are also fundamental Bulgarian values. Bulgaria will lose the battle for its European identity without the loyal and brave European stance of the news media." The Prime Minister concluded that this calls for resolute actions by the state institutions and the political parties.
