site.btaPresident Radev Meets Austrian Chancellor Nehammer

President Rumen Radev was received in Vienna Friday by Austria's Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer.  The two are having a working meeting to discuss further deepening of bilateral cooperation between Bulgaria and Austria, this country's accession to Schengen, as well as topics on the European agenda.

Before departing, Radev told reporters that he expects to make progress on the issue of Bulgaria's accession to Schengen and expressed optimism that October 1 is a realistic date for entry in the border-free travel area. 

Austria, together with the Netherlands, has objections to Bulgaria's entry in the Schengen area.
