site.btaCulturama 2023 Fest to Take Place in Sofia, Plovdiv in June

The Culturama 2023 festival will take place from June 18 to 23 in Sofia and Plovdiv, South Central Bulgaria, the Cultural Perspectives Foundation, which is among the organizers, said on Monday. The aim of the festival is to reverse the perspective through artistic provocation, turning the city square from a place of protest into a place of fiesta, and to create a community of people through a shared experience.

Birds are the main ambassador of the festival' ideas in 2023. The organizers said: "Since antiquity, poets have used birds to symbolize different emotional states, human characters, they [birds] have accompanied religious rites and rituals. Thanks to music, this symbolism comes alive today. They are all around us, and this is the magical soundtrack of the city. With this allegory we also link the musical programme, including provocative projects, which have classical music meet popular music, and these flights of fancy create a new reality: the Birds project, Heaven on Earth."

This year's forum is organized in cooperation with the French Institute in Sofia, which celebrates La Fete de la Musique (The Festival of Music).

The performers at the festival include Jean Boucault and Johnny Rasse, flutist Claire Marchal, Quartet Ardeo, Duo Jatekok, who will perform Rammstein on two grand pianos, Roda Do Cavaco, soprano Ina Kancheva, percussionist Vassilena Serafimova, Nikolay Ivanov, Michael Gabriel (Misho), Demetra Andzhalika and Georgi Budinov. Most events will be free to attend.

Three exhibitions dedicated to birds will be the focus of the accompanying programme, organized in joint partnership with Sofia Wildlife and Accenture Bulgaria.
