Bulgarians in Odessa said that explosions were heard in parts of the southwestern Ukrainian city of Odessa as a result of the Russian missile attack.

The attack warnings were issued at 9.52pm on Telegram. Sirens sounded in parts of the city. The attack continued until around 10.40pm.

A total of 8 missiles were fired from the Black Sea. According to Ukraine’s Operational Command South, most of them exploded over the sea.

The industrial zone on the outskirts of the city was hit in the strikes. A warehouse guard was killed and two people were injured.

"It was the first time explosions were heard so loudly in yesterday's [Wednesday] strike late in the evening. I live on the 5th floor in the Tairovo district. The doors and windows shook from the blast," Anna Kalanzhova, an ethnic Bulgarian from Odessa, told BTA.

Another Bulgarian, Natalia Dmitrova, living in the Kotovsky district, confirmed that loud explosions were heard in her part of the city as well.

These two areas are close to the sea. The missile attacks on Odessa have intensified in recent days.

In the southern part of the Odessa Region, in Bolhrad, which is home to a large community of ethnic Bulgarians, no explosions were heard. Galina Ivanova from Bolhrad told BTA that sirens were set off in the city on Wednesday evening.
