Vazrazhdane is clearly turning into a major political force, party leader Kostadin Kostadinov said in a comment after the Sunday general elections. He was speaking on Bulgarian National Television (BNT) after exit polls put his party third in the next Parliament.

He also said: "Whether there will be a government will depend on two things: how active and persuasive the US Ambassador will be, and whether GERB-UDF and Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria will be ready to defy him."

Kostadinov expects that a possible coalition between GERB-UDF and Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria would cause a loss of voters and quick disintegration of the new Parliament.

On Nova TV, Kostadinov said that the only government that Vazrazhdane will support is a government formed on its own mandate.

"Regardless of what the final results are, one thing is indisputable - Vazrazhdane is the political organization that shows the biggest growth," Kostadinov said. "We have increased our voters by between 150,000 and 170,000," he added.

According to Kostadinov, the most serious problem is that 60% of Bulgarian citizens did not turn out to vote.

In a comment for BTA, Kostadinov said that two governments are possible within the new Parliament: "one of the US embassy and the other is a Vazrazhdane government". He said that his party would accept support from other parties for a possible Vazrazhdane government. Asked to specify whose support would be acceptable for them, he said that they are ready to talk with all political forces out of respect for their voters.

Kostadinov believes that the growing support for his party is due to Vazrazhdane's steadfast principles.

He also said: "As for whether we will be the third or fourth political force, we know that we should have earned between 350,000 and 400,000 votes because this is the figures we have been getting in our own polls and this is our voter base. We would not accept a lower result."

He said that voting in Turkiye is manipulated and "this disgrace must stop".

The vast majority of Bulgarians in Turkiye vote for the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.

Kostadinov believes that the first thing the new Parliament should do is schedule a referendum against the euro changeover "because if Bulgaria loses its financial sovereignty, it will make no difference what budget we adopt because we will no longer have control over our own finances and somebody else will be printing our money".
