Military personnel and equipment of the United States Armed Forces will be transported via Bulgaria's national road network on June 1 and 2, the Defence Ministry said on Sunday.
The movement of personnel and equipment from Greece to Romania is part of the regional logistical support for the rotation of military units participating in the US Armed Forces' Operation Atlantic Resolve.
Military convoys will be escorted across Bulgarian territory by teams from the Military Police Service.
Atlantic Resolve is a US Army Europe and Africa initiative launched in 2014 to strengthen deterrence and defence capabilities, enhance NATO readiness, and improve interoperability between US forces and their allies in Eastern Europe.
The Defence Ministry noted that military personnel and equipment of the Turkish Armed Forces transited Bulgaria on May 23 and 24 after participating in a joint NATO-Serbia exercise.
