A memorandum of intent to establish friendly relations between the town of Lovech and China’s Taishun County was signed during the visit of Lovech Mayor Stratsimir Petkov to China, the municipal administration said on Friday.
"The agreement marks the official beginning of a long-term partnership centred on the rich historical and architectural heritage of both regions," the Municipality emphasized, adding that it also opens new opportunities for direct business relations, cultural exchange, economic cooperation, and joint initiatives in the field of sustainable tourism.
Petkov’s visit began in the city of Wenzhou with a tour of the campus of Wenzhou-Kean University, a Chinese-American joint university, where he met with the institution’s leadership. Later, during the International Covered Bridges Evening event, Petkov also held talks with representatives of the Taishun Covered Bridges Association. Discussions focused on future cooperation and the international promotion of Lovech’s iconic covered bridge as a tourist attraction.
