Transport safety is the highest priority with which the work of the Ministry of Transport and Communications must begin, said newly-appointed Transport and Communications Minister Georgi Peev during a handover ceremony at the ministry on Friday.

Peev underscored that he has always believed there should be continuity within an institution and described transport as a driving force of the economy.

He thanked caretaker minister Korman Ismailov for the cooperation and the information he provided during the handover. According to him, the two discussed key and critical issues in the sector.

Among his priorities, the new minister also highlighted connectivity, intermodality, digital solutions and the use of artificial intelligence systems, as well as the development of green transport.

Peev added that a team is to be formed within the ministry, which will include competent specialists in it.

For his part, Ismailov said that he is leaving the new leadership information about completed activities, ongoing projects, priorities, and problems in the sector.
