At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the caretaker government approved funding for the Council of Ministers for 2026 in the amount of EUR 713,412 for capital expenditures, for the Bulgarian Orthodox Diocese in Western and Central Europe, in connection with the purchase of a church and an adjacent building for the Bulgarian Orthodox community in Leipzig, Saxony, Federal Republic of Germany.
The project is of significant spiritual, cultural, and national importance, as it aims to create a permanent centre for Bulgarians living in the eastern provinces of Germany. Securing a permanent church would allow for regular worship services, Sunday school, as well as cultural and educational activities related to the preservation of Bulgarian identity and the Orthodox faith. Supporting such initiatives is an expression of the state’s care for our compatriots abroad and an important step toward strengthening the spiritual and cultural ties between Bulgaria and its communities around the world.
