Montana Region is not poor but rather a plundered region, said Bogdan Bogdanov, top-of-the-list candidate of the Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) coalition for the region, who also leads the party list in Pleven Region, during a press conference at the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) National Press Club here on Monday, the coalition said.

According to him, theft and corruption, rather than any other factors, are the main problems facing Northwestern Bulgaria and Montana Region.

Bogdanov stated that public funds must be spent transparently and that State and local institutions should function normally. In his words, this would eliminate poor and lagging regions where jobs are difficult to find and investors are scarce.

The press conference was also attended by Valeri Spasov, an MP candidate, Municipal Councillor in Montana and head of Continue the Change’s local structure in the city; Todor Goranov, a member of the party’s National Council; and Debora Petkova, an MP candidate.
