Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov will visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to congratulate the team of the Ministry's crisis taskforce on the successful completion of the active phase of the operation to evacuate Bulgarian citizens from the Middle East, the Foreign Ministry's press centre said on Friday.

Earlier this week, caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Nadezhda Neynsky announced that more than 2,600 Bulgarians had been evacuated from the Middle East region. More than 15,000 phone calls were conducted and over 6,500 emails were processed, while more than 100 employees of the Foreign Ministry and Bulgaria's diplomatic missions abroad worked around the clock, Neynsky said.

"We carried out the largest evacuation operation so far involving Bulgarian citizens from 11 countries," Bulgaria's top diplomat also said.

During his visit, Andrey Gurov will also familiarize himself with the working conditions and operations of the situation centre of the Foreign Ministry.
