site.btaForeign Ministry Task Force Focuses on Evacuating Bulgarians from Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain

The Foreign Ministry Saturday said that alongside the assistance provided to Bulgarian citizens by the country's diplomatic missions in the region, the efforts of the Ministry's task force are focused on evacuating Bulgarians from Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.

The Foreign Ministry said that a plan is in place to evacuate the citizens along three routes via the land border with Saudi Arabia and gather them in Riyadh. Arrangements are also underway for a special flight from the Saudi capital to bring them back home.

The Foreign Ministry added that the operation to evacuate Bulgarian citizens from the Middle East and Iran is continuing in stages, within the limits allowed by the conditions in the respective countries.

According to the Foreign Ministry's task force, by 9.30 am on Saturday a total of 1,207 Bulgarian citizens in the United Arab Emirates had received assistance as part of the operation to evacuate Bulgarians from the Middle East and Iran. Of these, 953 were evacuated through the Ministry's task force, and 254 through tour operators.
