site.btaOver 15,000 Consumers Have Reported High Electricity Bills – Energy Minister
If even one customer has been overcharged on their electricity bill, they will be compensated,” said Caretaker Energy Minister Traycho Traykov on bTV.
He said that he is waiting for the results of the inspections of the electricity meters, which are currently carried out.
According to the energy minister, more than 15,000 energy company customers have filed complaints about high electricity bills.
“After we compare whether the meter readings match the bill and find that they do, we begin to suspect the meters,” Traykov commented. For this reason, he believes it was the right move by the regulator to randomly remove 130 electricity meters, which are being checked technically and via software by an independent laboratory.
The results were expected to be released by the end of this past week, however they are not. Minister Traykov also urged that this information be available as soon as tomorrow.
