site.btaUPDATED Caretaker PM to Convene Security Council after Israeli Attack on Iran
The caretaker Prime Minister has decided to convene the Security Council later on Saturday, caretaker Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov told bTV in response to a question about the situation following reports of an Israeli attack against Iran.
The Council of Ministers press centre also confirmed the information. The Security Council meeting will be held at 1 p.m.
The permanent members of the council and the security services will be notified and will present their assessments.
"We will present our assessments. Nothing that is happening creates consequences for our armed forces. We will not change the operating regime of our armed forces because we are not a party to this operation," Zapryanov said.
Following questions from the media, the Council of Ministers clarified later on Saturday that representatives of the parliamentary groups are not invited to the Council, so that it is not turned into arena for election campaigning. Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov and GERB-UDF MP Hristo Gadzhev opposed the decision.
