site.bta4,991 Traffic Violations Recorded in First Week of “Safe City” System in North Macedonia

A total of 4,991 traffic violations were recorded in the first week of operation of the “Safe City” system in Skopje, Kumanovo, and Tetovo, as well as along Corridors 8 and 10 in North Macedonia. The system uses cameras to detect offences such as speeding, running red lights, and illegal parking.

The majority of traffic violations - 4,674, were for speeding, 163 were for running a red light, and 641 violations were committed by drivers operating vehicles with foreign registration plates, the Ministry of Interior reported.

Driving bans were issued to 288 individuals, including drivers who ran a red light and 125 drivers who were caught exceeding the speed limit.
