Bulgaria’s leading ski jumper, Vladimir Zografski, said that weather conditions will have a major impact on the Olympic competition on the normal hill in Predazzo, Italy.  “I feel good. I’ve jumped here before, but on artificial surface in summer. Now it’s a bit better because back then there were many injuries. They made a small change, and the flight is lower. But this means that conditions will have a big influence; the weather will definitely play a major role,” Zografski said.

The 32-year-old is familiar with the venue, having competed there twice in September during the Summer Grand Prix series, finishing 22nd on the large hill and 44th on the normal hill.

Zografski participated in the first official training session on Thursday evening, achieving the best result in his first of three trial jumps.

The second official training is scheduled for Sunday, with the competition set for Monday at 20:00 Bulgarian time.

Competing in his fourth consecutive Olympics, Zografski has had a strong season. In November, he made history for Bulgaria with a fourth-place finish at a World Cup event in Ruka, Finland; in December, he was sixth in Wisla, Poland; in January, he achieved a record 14th place overall in the prestigious Four Hills Tournament; and days before the Games, he returned to the World Cup top ten with an eighth-place finish in Willingen, Germany.

Zografski’s best Olympic result came at Pyeongchang 2018, where he finished 14th on the normal hill.
