The cargo ship Lady Sham, flying the flag of San Marino, experienced engine failure in the Bosporus late on Sunday while sailing from Istanbul to the Bulgarian port of Burgas, Turkish media reported Monday. 

In a statement to the media, the Turkish Coast Guard confirmed that after suffering engine failure, the Lady Sham was pulled to a safe location by two tug boats.

Haber 7 reported that the incident was caused by a failure in the engine room. The ship was later pulled by tug boats to a safe location where she dropped anchor in the port of Buyukdere.

According to information of NTV, the ship's anchors got tangled in an unidentified object and she was pulled toward the shore.

According to the media, the incident caused serious concern. "Disaster Barely Avoided in Bosporus!", reads SonDakika, while Hurriyet Daily writes: "Cargo Ship Saved in Bosporus Thanks to Coast Guard Teams."
